Who’s the favorite? Who’s winning? Whaddaya say?

Avatar Fabio Assis 27 post(s)

My vote is for mr. Cornell. He has been practing with a new game, “My Team, Your Team” (check his site).

I’m sure Layer Tennis is a harder duel, but Kevin is ready for some action.

I’m anxious to see how it goes.. 2 extremely talented designers.. could go either way. It’s going to be a good match!

Avatar Chris 2 post(s)

I’ve played a Photoshop Tennis match or two in my day, but I’m no expert… this is going to be fantastic! Theys guys seem to be the big dogs.

Well, no word yet from the club if it’s on grass court or sand, this is all so exiting!

Avatar Tim Brown 1 post

Gruber commentary is what peaked my interest. This whole idea is really cool. Thanks, Coudal.

I think this is going to be AWESOME!!!!
@Jim: You’re the man!!!

Too bad I’m going to be working at the time and will have to see the results after the game is done :-(

Go, Kevin, Go!!!!!

They’re both very talented… but I think Kevin’ll win in the end.

Avatar Bradley Smith 5 post(s) Keys to the match:
  1. The player who avoids the use of lens flares will win
  2. Excessive use of reflections could cause some problems

Avatar Plasticmind 62 post(s)

They’ve both got such different style… if Shaun pulls one of his waving headers like he did on his site, Kevin might just beat him.

Avatar Stover 3 post(s)

I can almost hear the crowd… And it’s almost time!

Avatar Anogar 4 post(s)

Lens flares will be the key to victory.

Honestly though, I think Cornell has an edge, since he actually has some great traditional art skills, and I haven’t seen that out of Inman, though he is equally brilliant in his own way.

Lens flares. Come on guys. Default filters are the tool of the inexperienced ‘chopper. Pfft, default filters are for chumps.

Avatar Anogar 4 post(s)

Too early for sarcasm?

Avatar Bryan 146 post(s)

Aaaand, we’re off!

I mean, say what you like about the tenets of Digital Paganism, Dude, at least it’s an ethos.

Avatar Stover 3 post(s)

Whoa is it over? That was heavy.

Avatar constantX 10 post(s)

easy guys, you’ll have the chance to remix after all

Avatar Bob H. 4 post(s)

I like the juxtaposition of the Zen like stature being presented here.
There’s this ambience of Rand mixed with Picasso to bring about a feeling
of fear and graphic intercourse. The use of filters is amazing and reminds me
of something I think Quentin Blake might have wanted to say:

“The art of Photoshoping is like a match in tennis.
In the tiredness of reasoning and in the exhaustion of episodic
layering, freehand drawing and adjustment layers, one becomes tired of
the fight in each set, but carries on, like a champion should. There is
the chance that your friend, your racket of choice if you will,
may be Gaussian blur or lens flare or the stylish and irreverent colored pencil.
But with such choices you are endangered of missing the serve or loosing
your balls because default filters are for chumps. Each tweak
is necessary and separates the men from the not as much of a man as they
could have been.”

These two celebrities are indeed not chumps, but exquisite players,
dancing opposite each other, starring each other down from across the net.

Lens Flares / Done that, Been there / Kept heads scared

Avatar Fuzzy Gerdes 172 post(s)

The lack of color is a brave move, almost inviting a response.

Avatar ScottieP 31 post(s)

Nice serve from Cornell… in typical cornell fashion he comes with a hard driven attempt at an ace here with his typical styling.. rough figures with a pencil drawn water color style… very nice… excited to see how shaun responds here.

Bob H. is laying down his own challenge right there. Nice opening salvo indeed. Shame about the spelling though. Probably an automatic disqualification.

Avatar mia2000 2 post(s)

The game is afoot! This is the first time I’ve witnessed an event like this in a live environment. I hope that Cornell and Inman can stay away from those default filters that are utilized by talentless hacks, like the lowly Lens Flare and Twirl, for example. I feel like these filters bring shame upon this great sport of ours, similar to the impact of steroids on baseball. And besides, we all know that default filters are for chumps.

Okay…I’m off my pedestal now. I’m anxious for the return volley from Inman.

Paul – it was a direct quote. Should have put the notation for that.
