In case folks were bored, I took a look behind the scenes for my side of this match.

@Bryan: I’d like to back you up on that – It was originally called Photo shop Tennis, after all.
I for one was ecstatic about all the use of actual photography, and letting the ideas be the tie-in to the previous volley. Even the volleys that don’t seem to relate at first still have elements, if only idealogical ones, that form one continuos thought stream right through to the end – from Golden Toilets to MST3K (pointed out by my co-worker) style viewing of Star Wars.
I also agree with the thought that a rematch between some contestants with the serve-volley reversed would be a great way to see both artists have to react instead of drive…

You’re welcome to your opinion, but many LT fans were glad to see a bit more focus on photography and composition rather than illustration and collage. We’re striving for variety, so hopefully every match will be quite different and we can explore as many disciplines and styles as possible.

Again, there aren’t really any rules or expectations, so we were very happy to see this match go in a different direction. I’m glad you guys enjoyed it despite it not being what you expected, hopefully every week is both educational and exciting and fresh.

I agree. This was a fine match of JPEG Tennis, but violates nearly every spirit of the Layer Tennis I’ve come to love. Enjoyable, to be sure, but this isn’t what we came here for.

great work from both artists. I liked this competition a lot. It reminded me a bit of the mixed-format from the first tennis. it was a nice break from the photoshop/illustrator battles of the previous two weeks.
for my money (or free time), volley # 8 wasn’t just the best of the day, it was the best so far this year. glass was the clear winner today.
