Yeah, the code applies the class “threadauthor” to the first name on a page. I’d imagine it’s intended only for the actual thread author where ever his/her name appears, but their forum software is adding to a new person on each page.

Weird, looks like the first person to post on a new page is red, then their name appears in red throughout that page. Not sure what the point of that is, but that seems to be the pattern.

Ok, maybe i’m stupid, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why some people’s names are red and some are grey?

(and yes, Julian, I lol’d at 7. go back a page for my brief commentary on it.)

I have to say I loved this weeks match. I missed the live event, but just now managed to follow it. Did anyone else laugh out loud at volley 7?

Mr. Kottke did a nice job with the commentary. Thanks Steve. Thanks Chuck.

Coming in with my final vote.

NoPattern, I’d love to extend the Pinkie love your way, but I think ima have to say Harrington won this match. Your last volley (#10) was pretty hot, but I don’t think it could conquer the mountains of this bout (ironically of which you introduced).

Ultimately, the subtleties that Steve added to each volley were what really hooked me. The Cloud On Strings was genius and while you picked it up for #6 (thank you for that, btw), it was his inclusion of it that “had me at Hello.” Steve was definitely in the driver seat and Chuck is a great person to talk to on the way. All that said, this match was closer than last week’s (to me) and I had a wonderful time waiting for each image to post.

Well done to both of you and I look forward to next week.

Alright – my final comment on this match is that #2 was my favorite volley because I totally did not expect that. #1 was such an idyllic, boring teepee-scape that when suddenly the little guy freaks out under the advance of the psychedelic mountains and the sky gains its own menacing personality, I couldn’t help it; I just had to lol in pure joy.

Second-favorite moment was #7. Whereas #2 caught me off-gaurd in a positive, impressed-with-his-cleverness sort of fashion, #7 shocked me with its violence, and then I still had to lol. At the bird. That was funny. And on a slightly more deep note, I felt Steve was upset that nothing really cool was done with his cliff/ocean. “I don’t want a bird! I wanted fish scaling that ledge!” (Catch my pun on scales? heh.)

Peace :)

Another great, close match, but Steven Harrington wins it, as AZ Focus Guy said, “by the tip of a teepee.” We’re off to the pub; see you back here next Friday.

Great match! The last return by Anderson is probably my favourite of the 10 volleys, but I think I would have to give my vote to SH for the overall game.

I like Harrington’s style better, but I think Anderson did better plays. I vote Anderson. Lovely match!

Steven Harrington was definitely the most consistent and stronger player, but Chuck Anderson definitely did a good job of keeping things interesting. The win definitely goes to Stevey, though.

I have to agree with Kevin M. K. It seems that the course was steered by Steve. Chuck did a fantastic job following the curves in the road and I love his subtle nature in some of his volleys. In the end, I have to give it to Steve, but only by the tip of his teepee.

Overall, way better than last week, and a close match. As sir timbly recommended, I went back and looked at all the game pieces in a variety of ways and just came to the conclusion that I preferred the pieces introduced by SH. Excellent match, though, showing thought and humour.

Harrington for me, even though I didn’t love “give peace a chance.” He knocked the ball around and made Anderson chase it. The Anderson volleys just add “stuff” to Harrington’s slight but strong directional changes.

Anderson’s plays were certainly the weakest throughout the round up until the very last serve. The last serve was beautiful, but if you go back and watch what each of them did in order (all odds, then all evens) I think it’s pretty clear that Harrington produced the most aesthetically pleasing work throughout. So despite Andersons last second half-court three pointer, I would give it to Harrington.
