Topic: Trevor Van Meter vs James Hutchinson 11/30 / Conversation About The Match Damn! I’m thinking James Hutchinson has the game in hand and he’s thinking about putting it in the bag. I like Trevors art style better across the panels, but James seems to be doing more zigs and Trevor isn’t zagging quite as well. Plus I gotta go with the guy who has the same name as me :P |

Topic: Scott Hansen vs Rob Cordiner 11/9 / Conversation About The Match Volley 4: What story is there in this? Sure it’s a shmorgazboard of colour, but I see little value / aesthetic in it. |

Topic: Marian Bantjes vs Armin Vit 11/02 / Conversation About The Match We’re at the half-way point….And this one isn’t stirring any ‘wow’ moments for me. I’m going home now…Will check it when its’ all said and done, hopefully they pull some amazing things into play in the 2nd half. But right now I’m pegging this my least favourite match. |

Topic: Marian Bantjes vs Armin Vit 11/02 / Conversation About The Match There we go…...Evolution is happening before our very eyes. If this whole match stays on ‘tennis’, that’s good as it might force other designers to think twice before going back to that well. |

Topic: Marian Bantjes vs Armin Vit 11/02 / Conversation About The Match A bit of a weak start? Though maybe its’ better to start slow and finish strong. Will be interesting to see if they feed off each other to build great things. |

Topic: General Layer Tennis Discussions / pARTicipate - What else would you like LT to be? This is an awesome concept and one that I very much think needs to be encouraged. From a design perspective it forces you to think outside the box, work with other peoples’ assets and gives you opportunity to learn / improve your skills in a “high pressure” situation. From a viewers’ point of view, it’s a lot of great eye candy with a little bit of story. If we could post-match learn a little more about what the different artists were shooting for / thinking at each stage of their match, that would be great. I wrote a blog post about Layer Tennis – http://www.oastler.ca/my-002/reviews/20071101_what-is-an-artistic-sport/ – which I’d welcome anyone to check out. The meat of which was answering the ‘what else would I like to see LT be?’ question in context of the sites’ claim that LT is “not just what the artists and designers do with the matches but what we all do with Layer Tennis together.” How about you? |
