Topic: Peoples' Choice - Two Matches for 1/24 / Conversation About The Matches Well, the Glass vs Inman match is over. While I really enjoyed volleys two and six from Glass, I have to cast my vote for Inman, due to the sheer dazzling brilliance that is volley number five. The simple composition, the clever pun, and the simple rotation of the cups to get the point across… I’m in awe. |

Topic: Veerle Pieters vs Cindy Li - 1/11 / Conversation About The Match This was a really enjoyable match! Besides the Owens-Gnewikow match, this had the most consistent visual style, but it had a lot more variation in subject and composition. Even though Cindy’s volley 6 was spectacular, overall, I liked the consistency in Veerle’s responses, so my vote goes to her. Great job, both of you! |

Topic: Matt Owens vs Jason Gnewikow 12/14 / Conversation About The Match I vote for a draw – the volleys were all much too similar for me to care either way about who gets it. Like tut21, it could easily have been all from the same person. I’m usually in favor of building upon what’s come before, but they took it way too far. I think it’s best when a player builds upon to conceptual aim of the previous volley, but in a different style, or takes the same style, but twists it to serve different ends. This match, they tried to do the same thing all match long, and in the same style. |

Topic: Jason Koxvold vs Bran Dougherty-Johnson 12/7 / Conversation About The Match Fantastic match! I think this match begs for a complete merging of all the volleys into a single video, even more than the flash one did (at least flash allows for lopping). It would be really cool to see. Both participants had fantastic responses every time the other one threw them a curve ball, but overall, I think Bran takes home the win. The pirate volley and the mini-me volley are strokes of genius! |
